Semi-Private Events

Gather your favorite people for two hours of creativity, connection, and fun in our reserved party room. Semi-private events are a great fit for adult birthdays, showers, family celebrations, team outings, book clubs, and creative time with friends.

Pottery painting is usually the star of the show, with plenty of choices for different styles and budgets. Individual guests may also choose glass fusing, candle making, or stoneware.

    Terms and Conditions

Walls of Clay has been part of downtown McKinney for more than 25 years. Our practices, policies, and procedures are designed to be fair while helping us provide an awesome experience for our guests.

    Reservation and Deposit

A $100 deposit, plus applicable sales tax, is required to reserve your event date and time. The deposit is non-refundable.

Once the minimum purchase requirement is met, the reservation holder may apply the full deposit toward purchases made during the event or have it refunded to the original form of payment.

The deposit reserves the party room for the scheduled two-hour event. Semi-private events take place during regular studio hours, and the main studio remains open to other customers.

    Rescheduling, Cancellations, and No-Shows

If you need to postpone or cancel your event, please notify Walls of Clay before the scheduled event by calling 972.547.4472 or emailing info@wallsofclaymckinney.com. If the studio is closed, please leave a message.

With advance notice, the entire amount paid will remain on account as a credit. The credit does not expire and may be applied toward a future semi-private or private event.

Deposits and event credits cannot be refunded or applied toward open-studio visits, workshops, merchandise, or other services.

If you do not provide notice before the event, the reservation will be considered a no-show and the entire payment will be forfeited. No-shows will not receive a refund or credit.

    Minimum Purchase Requirement

The group must meet a minimum purchase of $245 before tax. Previous purchases do not count toward the minimum.

After guests select their projects, our team will provide a courtesy tally whenever possible. This allows the reservation holder an opportunity to add another project, select an add-on, or exchange a lower-priced item for a higher-priced item if the group appears to be below the required minimum. The courtesy tally is an estimate, and the reservation holder remains responsible for meeting the minimum.

If the final group total is less than $245 before tax, we will convert the entire deposit to a room rental fee, and it will not apply to any purchases.

The remaining balance and applicable sales tax are due before the event ends. We accept cash and all major credit cards. We do not accept checks for final payment. You may add an optional gratuity at checkout.

    Attendance and Participation

The party room accommodates up to 12 makers, plus up to two non-makers.

Seating for non-makers is not guaranteed. Walls of Clay is a working creative studio, not a traditional event venue, and most attendees are expected to participate in a creative project.

Semi-private events are available for guests ages 5 and older. A responsible adult must supervise children.

The party room is approximately 12 feet by 17 feet. It comfortably seats approximately eight adults or up to 12 children at the tables. Limited bar seating may be available but should not be included when planning the group’s seating.

The bar and bench may be used for food, drinks, and personal belongings. Tables in the main studio are reserved for walk-in customers and cannot be used as overflow seating for the event. Keep the hallway between the main studio and party room clear for safety and access.

    Event Length and Arrival

Semi-private events are two hours long and end at the scheduled time.

The reservation holder may arrive 5 to 10 minutes early. Guests should arrive at the scheduled start time. Arriving late does not extend the event.

If a guest does not finish a pottery project during the event, the unfinished piece may be wrapped and sent home.

    Team Member Support

Semi-private events do not include a dedicated host. A Walls of Clay team member will help the group get started, provide instructions, check in regularly, refresh supplies, and remain available when assistance is needed.

Because the event takes place during regular studio hours, team members will also be assisting customers throughout the studio.

    Creative Activities

Pottery painting is the primary activity for semi-private events. Individual guests may also choose from other available projects, including glass fusing, candle making, or stoneware.

Glass fusing and stoneware may require additional instruction and may not be appropriate for every group or event size. Project availability may also depend on supplies, staffing, and the amount of instructional time available.

If the entire group would like to complete something other than pottery painting, contact Walls of Clay before reserving. Whole-group glass fusing, stoneware, candle making, clay, or other specialty projects require advance coordination and cannot be guaranteed through a standard semi-private event reservation.

Specialty projects, materials, or techniques may have additional requirements, processing times, or costs.

    Food, Drinks, and Decorations

Simple, finger-friendly food and drinks are welcome. Walls of Clay is a creative studio, so food should complement the event rather than become its primary activity.

Hot plates, chafing dishes, confetti, glitter, pinatas, and thumbtacks are not permitted.

Balloons and small freestanding or tabletop decorations are welcome. Decorations must not block walkways, interfere with other customers, or damage studio walls, furniture, or fixtures.

Refrigerator and freezer space is very limited. Guests should plan to bring coolers when needed.

    Alcohol Policy

Guests consuming alcohol must be at least 21 years old and must drink responsibly. The reservation holder is responsible for communicating this policy to all attendees.

Guests must have a safe and responsible means of transportation before leaving the studio. Anyone believed to be intoxicated or impaired before entering may be denied entry.

If a guest appears intoxicated or impaired, Walls of Clay will take the following steps:

    1. Seek a designated driver who can safely transport the guest.
    2. If a designated driver is unavailable, request the contact information of someone who can pick up the guest.
    3. If no one is available, arrange an Uber or Lyft based on the guest’s choice.
    4. If the guest refuses these options, Walls of Clay will call 911 and allow law enforcement or emergency personnel to handle the situation.

If a team member or guest feels unsafe or believes there is an immediate danger at any point, 911 will be called immediately.

By bringing or consuming alcohol, guests accept responsibility for their conduct and release and waive claims against Walls of Clay LLC, its owners, employees, contractors, affiliates, successors, and assigns resulting from incidents occurring before, during, or after the event, including injury, loss, theft, or damage to any person or property.

    Kiln-Fired Art and Project Results

Kiln-fired art is handmade. Slight variations, glaze movement, imperfections, cracks, breakage, or other unexpected results can occur during drying, glazing, firing, or handling. Clay projects carry additional risk because pieces may crack or break while drying or firing.

Walls of Clay takes reasonable precautions when processing each project, but some outcomes are beyond our control. If an unforeseen defect, kiln mishap, or human error materially damages a project, Walls of Clay will review the situation individually and may issue a replacement or studio credit when appropriate.

Variations that are a normal part of handmade or kiln-fired art are not considered defects.

    Processing and Pickup

Processing times vary by project. Pottery is generally ready approximately seven days after the event, although processing may take longer during holidays, high-volume periods, or when a project requires additional firing or finishing. Stoneware, glass, clay, and specialty projects may require additional time.

Walls of Clay will contact the reservation holder when the group’s projects are ready. The reservation holder is responsible for picking up and distributing the finished pieces unless another arrangement has been approved.

You must pick up finished projects within 30 days of the pickup notification. Items remaining after 30 days may be donated or discarded. We do our best to donate unclaimed pottery whenever possible.

    Photography and Video Release

Pictures or videos may be taken during workshops and events for use in Walls of Clay’s print and online marketing and advertising.

By participating, attendees authorize this use unless the reservation holder or attendee informs a Walls of Clay team member that they do not wish to be photographed or recorded.

    Authorization for Emergency Medical Attention

By accepting these Terms & Conditions, the reservation holder authorizes Walls of Clay and its team members to administer general first aid for minor injuries or illnesses involving the reservation holder or a minor in their care.

If an injury or illness is life-threatening or requires emergency treatment, Walls of Clay may summon emergency personnel and authorize transportation and treatment that licensed medical professionals or institutions consider reasonably necessary.

The reservation holder accepts financial responsibility for expenses associated with emergency transportation or medical care.

    Liability Waiver and Release

By accepting these Terms & Conditions and participating in the event, the reservation holder voluntarily assumes the ordinary risks associated with participating in creative studio activities.

The reservation holder agrees to release, defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Walls of Clay LLC and its owners, employees, agents, officers, directors, contractors, affiliates, successors, and assigns from claims, damages, losses, injuries, or causes of action arising directly or indirectly from the reservation holder’s participation or that of a minor child in their care, except where prohibited by law.

The reservation holder is responsible for communicating all applicable event policies to their guests and for supervising any minors attending under their care.

    Acceptance of Terms

By completing the reservation, the reservation holder confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions and have the authority to accept them on behalf of any participating minor in their care.
